Community Organizing 101
With over 15 years of experience building
power, and fighting and winning on key progressive issues,
Ocean State Action can teach you how to run a successful
organizing campaign, from the first recognition of the problem
to the final realization of your goal
One-On-One Organizing
A major component in any campaign, One-On-One
Organizing is how you develop leaders and activists, and
build the commitment necessary to win.
Learn how to find leads, cultivate relationships, talk about
organizing and power, and ensure that your campaign leaders
follow through.
Grassroots Lobbying
The State House doesn’t have to
be a mystery! Learn what it takes to make a bill a law,
lobby your elected officials, plan and hold a district meeting,
and how to prepare for public hearings.
Political Action 101
Learn how to build political power in
your own neighborhood. See how political campaigns are structured.
Understand what happens during a campaign. Know what it
takes to win. And find out how you can get involved.
Values,
Vision and Ideas For Building Justice
As
social justice activists, our vision for a better society
directs our major policy action and our values define how
we react and interact with others. However, we often, find
it difficult to explain our vision and values (some call
it our “worldview”) simply and successfully in our campaigns.
This workshop will examine how we can better promote our
worldview to build power for social justice change. (Lead
